Among the timeless olive groves
A few weeks ago, we went to visit Maria Rosaria at her estate the "Colline di Zenone", a stone's throw from our complex. The Trama family has lived there since the 1980s. It was Agrippina and Vittorio, Maria Rosaria's parents, who laid the first stone of this estate; today, Maria Rosaria and her husband Raffaele, with their three children, welcome us to a company that produces oil, yes ... but offers visitors so much more: among the ancient olive trees, with the sea in the background and the hills to protect it, it's like being in another dimension.
"For my parents, this land represents their first important purchase", the result of hard work and sacrifice. "Now that papà is gone and the economic conditions are different, we feel the need to take care of these olive groves in the right way: it is the our way of showing gratitude".
Quite right. For Maria Rosaria and her family, it means ethical, biological and of high quality - a challenge that initially seemed impossible, considering the enormous size of the cultivar Pisciottana.
And to see the young Vittorio, Cristina and Costanza, their children, you can really feel the participation in the family project, so deep in this ancestral reality ...yes, we really enjoyed it.
Strolling among these living monuments with Maria Rosaria, embraced by her gentle ways, is food for the soul. Her connection to the land, its history and culture is strong: after all, the name of the estate is a tribute to Zeno of Elea, disciple of Parmenides and father of Sophistry. Her spirituality and her humanistic studies enrich the visit and our chat with ever new elements. So, while she tells us about the various oil-based products, she also illustrates the properties of the officinal herbs collected at the Asclepeion.
And while we write, we can still smell that liquorice.
We take home the memories of an afternoon that is a journey between generations, united by love for the land; it is a moment that gives back a renewed energy and prepares all the senses for tasting an excellent and award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
An afternoon not to be missed.
